Coming into college with an A from high school chemistry, I was not expecting the rude awakening from college chemistry. Chem 1 was a struggle for me, but Joe has been a life changer for me ever since. As part of my journey to become a doctor, Chemistry is an important part. I had always struggled with chemistry in general and when it came time to take Organic 1 I was nervous. The way Joe teaches organic concepts makes the most complex topics simple. He really picks up on students habits and how they study, and creates a plan that works for them. For me, early on he picked up on I was not the best student and lacked confidence in my work. But his methods helped me get through organic chemistry with confidence. It felt like the college professors I had taken did not care about if their students understood the class or not, Joe does care. Instead of the traditional Orgo method of purely memorizing every concept, like college professors expect, he gives you the necessary tools to be successful. My biggest recommendation is to listen to EVERYTHING Joe has to say, if he says to do flash cards hit them early on do not wait last minute or if he tells you to study a cheat sheet to understand nomenclature do so. Keep in mind that Joe is on your side, he wants to succeed you are not just a number to him like a college professor. With his adaptive teaching style, patience and his positive attitude I would not have been able to get through Orgo 1 &2. I fully believe in Joe’s method on attacking Organic chemistry and with his help I got a A+ in organic chemistry 2!

Mr. Joe’s approach to O Chem has completely changed the way I learn the subject. One hour with him can clear up concepts that felt impossible to grasp in an entire lecture. I feel so comfortable asking questions and making mistakes during our sessions because Joe is beyond patient and supportive.
